Description
A simple and delicious homemade nectarine jam made with fresh fruit, sugar, and lemon juice. Perfect for spreading on toast, stirring into yogurt, or gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh ripe nectarines, diced (peeling optional)
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Nectarines:
Wash, pit, and dice the nectarines. You can leave the skins on or peel them for a smoother texture. - Combine Ingredients:
Add nectarines, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to draw out the juices. - Cook the Jam:
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 20–30 minutes until the mixture thickens. - Mash or Blend:
Use a potato masher for a chunky jam or blend with an immersion blender for a smoother consistency. - Test the Consistency:
Drop a small spoonful onto a cold plate. If it wrinkles or holds its shape when pushed with your finger, it’s done. - Jar the Jam:
Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars. Let cool to room temperature before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for 2–3 weeks or freeze for up to 6–8 months.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon, vanilla extract, or a splash of peach liqueur. Use slightly underripe nectarines if you want a more tart jam.
