Tender pork shoulder braised in apple cider for a flavorful, comforting dish, perfect for feeding a crowd.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lb pork shoulder
- 1–2 cups apple cider
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs thyme
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1–2 cups chicken broth
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- In a large pot, heat oil over medium-high heat and brown the pork on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- Add chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and celery to the pot and sauté until softened.
- Deglaze the pot with apple cider and scrape up any browned bits.
- Return the pork to the pot, add thyme, rosemary, and chicken broth.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for several hours until the pork is tender.
- Serve with the braising liquid.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator, or freeze for up to 3 months.
