Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup rolled oats (for crumble topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for crumble topping)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (for crumble topping)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for crumble topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until well combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples gently.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. To prepare the crumble topping, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter. Mix until crumbles form.
  9. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cake batter in the pan.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
