Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter with brown and granulated sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. Add the diced apples and sour cream to the mixture.
  6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar and brown sugar with a little milk until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled cake.
