Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  4. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas until well combined.
  5. Mix in the granulated sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until frothy.
  6. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  8. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts if desired.
  9. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Let the brownies cool on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes.
