Description
This homemade peach crisp is a warm, comforting dessert made with juicy peaches and a buttery oat topping. It’s simple to make and perfect with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale
For the filling:
- 6–8 medium fresh peaches, sliced (or 6 cups canned/frozen, drained)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the crisp topping:
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
- Make the filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla (if using). Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared dish.
- Make the topping: In another bowl, mix together oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
- Assemble and bake: Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the peaches. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt.
Notes
You can use frozen or canned peaches—just be sure to drain them well. For added crunch, stir chopped nuts into the topping. Keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
