Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder or melted dark chocolate
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
Cookie Layer:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Make the brownie batter: In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and cocoa powder (or melted chocolate). Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in flour and salt. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.
- Make the cookie dough: In another bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Assemble: Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough over the brownie batter. Gently press down, but do not fully spread.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before slicing for best texture.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate for a richer flavor. Let cool fully before slicing to prevent a gooey center. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
