Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan generously.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, cooking until golden brown and nutty. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another large bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add the browned butter and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and toffee bits.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Tap the pan on the counter to settle.
  7. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Tent with foil if necessary.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack. Slice once cooled.
