Description

A delightful pasta dish combining earthy mushrooms and sweet, buttery caramelized leeks, topped with creamy Gruyere cheese.


Ingredients

  • 200g pasta of your choice
  • 2 leeks, cleaned and sliced
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced
  • 200g Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced leeks and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Stir in the grated Gruyere cheese until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Toss the cooked pasta in the skillet with the creamy leek and mushroom sauce until well coated.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Make sure to clean the leeks thoroughly as dirt can hide between the layers. For a richer flavor, consider adding some garlic when sautéing the leeks. Experiment with different pasta types like penne or fettuccine.
