  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups White granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Sour cream, room temperature
  • 4 Large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup Buttermilk, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, and black pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in vanilla extract and sour cream, then add eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for about 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, frost with your choice of frosting and garnish with cinnamon or nutmeg.
