- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder, paprika
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings desired.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Top with half of the ground beef mixture and half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve with a side salad or crusty bread. For creamier texture, add extra cheese. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. You can freeze for up to 2 months.
