Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cherry mixture and dot with butter.
  5. Cover with another layer of pie crust or lattice on top if desired.
  6. Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a shiny finish.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
