- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
For Coating:
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Optional Add-ins:
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup dulce de leche for stuffing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Optional: fold in chocolate chips or prepare small amounts of dulce de leche for stuffing.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar for coating.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, optionally stuff with dulce de leche, and roll into balls.
- Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra indulgence, serve the cookies warm with a drizzle of dulce de leche or dip half in melted chocolate. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
