Description

Delicious bars made with ripe bananas and chocolate chips, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add melted butter to the bananas and mix well.
  4. Stir in granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together baking soda, salt, and flour.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
  8. Grease a 9×13 inch pan and pour the batter in, smoothing the top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes, then cut into squares and enjoy.

Notes

For optimal sweetness, use overripe bananas. Can be served warm with ice cream or drizzled with chocolate sauce.
