Ingredients
Scale
🍫 Brownie Layer:
- 1 stick (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
🍪 Cookie Dough Layer:
- 1 stick (113g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of sea salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Make the brownie layer: In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugars, and cocoa powder until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Fold in flour, salt, and chocolate chips. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
- Make the cookie dough layer: In another bowl, mix melted butter with both sugars. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and chocolate chips. Gently spread the cookie dough over the brownie batter.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Let cool completely in the pan before slicing for clean edges and best texture. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For extra gooey centers, bake closer to 30 minutes; for firmer bars, bake toward 35. Try adding nuts or using dark chocolate chips for variation.
