Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and orange zest.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough and fold in chocolate chips.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
If the milk is too hot, it will kill the yeast. Measure flour loosely for the best texture.
