Description
A delightful fusion of traditional chai latte with festive spices, perfect for cozy winter evenings and holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk (or a plant-based alternative)
- 1 black teabag or 1 tsp black tea leaves
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- A pinch of ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add the black tea, cover, and let steep for 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag or strain out the tea leaves. Stir in brown sugar and honey to sweeten.
- In a separate saucepan, heat milk over medium-low heat until steaming hot, then froth if desired.
- Pour the hot spiced tea into a mug, followed by the hot frothed milk. Stir gently to combine.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, optionally folding in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg. Top the latte with whipped cream and garnish with a sprinkle of spices or a cinnamon stick.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute heavy cream and milk with plant-based options. Adjust sweetness to your preference and enjoy it fresh for the best flavor.
