Description

A creamy, festive spread blending tart cranberries and sweet honey, perfect for holiday gatherings or as a thoughtful gift.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh orange zest (reserve half for later)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries and discard any soft or shriveled berries. Place cranberries in a saucepan.
  2. Add granulated sugar, orange zest, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and water to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes until cranberries burst and thicken into a compote.
  3. Remove from heat and cool completely at room temperature.
  4. In a stand mixer, whip softened butter for 5-7 minutes until fluffy.
  5. Gradually add honey and remaining orange zest to the whipped butter, mixing until incorporated.
  6. Carefully fold in the cooled cranberry compote until just combined.
  7. Transfer the butter to a serving bowl or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Serve on toasted bagels, pancakes, or with fresh breads. Adjust sweetness and spices to taste.
