Ingredients

- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh orange zest (reserve half for later)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon water (optional)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions
- Rinse cranberries and discard any soft or shriveled berries. Place cranberries in a saucepan.
- Add granulated sugar, orange zest, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and water to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes until cranberries burst and thicken into a compote.
- Remove from heat and cool completely at room temperature.
- In a stand mixer, whip softened butter for 5-7 minutes until fluffy.
- Gradually add honey and remaining orange zest to the whipped butter, mixing until incorporated.
- Carefully fold in the cooled cranberry compote until just combined.
- Transfer the butter to a serving bowl or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Serve on toasted bagels, pancakes, or with fresh breads. Adjust sweetness and spices to taste.
