Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Green food coloring
- Royal icing
- Colored sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Divide the dough into two portions. Add green food coloring to one portion and mix until desired color is reached.
- Roll out the green dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into tree shapes.
- Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
- Once cooled, decorate with royal icing and colored sprinkles to resemble Christmas trees. Enjoy!
Notes
Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing. Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
