Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk (if needed)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, warm milk and melted butter, then add the egg.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients and knead until smooth, aiming for a soft, slightly tacky dough.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out dough and spread with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll tightly and place in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden.
  8. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter, then add powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add milk one tablespoon at a time for desired consistency.
  9. Once the loaf cools, drizzle with frosting and serve.

Notes

Use real butter and cream cheese for the best flavor. Consider adding nutmeg or cardamom for extra spice.
