Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 8 cups water
- ⅓ cup baking soda
- ½ cup melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 16 pieces, rolling each into a 10-12 inch rope.
- Boil 8 cups of water, add baking soda, and boil each pretzel stick for 20-25 seconds.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C) and bake pretzels for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter, then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For best results, reheat in the oven before serving.
