- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the onion and celery, cooking until soft.
- In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked onion, celery, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, and parsley.
- Pour in the broth gradually, stirring until the bread is well moistened.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Use day-old bread for the best texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. Reheat with a splash of broth.
