Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread, cubed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and celery, cooking until soft.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked onion, celery, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  5. Pour in the broth gradually, stirring until the bread is well moistened.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

Use day-old bread for the best texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. Reheat with a splash of broth.
