Description

A delicious dessert combining the nostalgic flavors of cookie dough with a fun twist, featuring gooey chocolate pockets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (for heat-treating)
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar or colorful sprinkles (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until safe to eat, then let cool.
  2. In a bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until fluffy. Stir in 1/4 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Gradually add cooled flour and mix in 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips. Cover and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together 3 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Gradually combine the dry ingredients.
  4. Roll out half the dough into a rectangle. Spread half of the cookie dough filling over it. Roll out the second half and place it on top, sealing the edges. Cut into strips and twist them.
  5. Prepare an egg wash with 1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk. Brush each twist and sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles if desired. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool on a baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
