- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

- 1/4 cup milk

- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
- Coarse sugar or colorful sprinkles (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until safe to eat, then let cool.
- In a bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until fluffy. Stir in 1/4 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Gradually add cooled flour and mix in 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips. Cover and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together 3 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Gradually combine the dry ingredients.
- Roll out half the dough into a rectangle. Spread half of the cookie dough filling over it. Roll out the second half and place it on top, sealing the edges. Cut into strips and twist them.
- Prepare an egg wash with 1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk. Brush each twist and sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles if desired. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool on a baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store twists at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerated for 1 week, or freeze for 2 months.
