Description
These Cranberry Brie Puff Pastry Twists are a perfect combination of crunchy, gooey, sweet, and savory, making them a fantastic and easy appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package frozen puff pastry (thawed, containing 2 sheets)
- ½ cup cranberry sauce
- 6 oz brie cheese (rind removed, cut into small cubes)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp fresh rosemary (minced)
- 3 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp water or milk (for egg wash)
- A small amount of all-purpose flour (for dusting)
Instructions
- Thaw frozen puff pastry in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for 30-40 minutes until pliable but still cold. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Slice brie cheese into small even pieces. Ensure cranberry sauce is spreadable but not runny. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water or milk for the egg wash. Finely chop fresh rosemary.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently unfold one sheet of puff pastry. Spread half of the cranberry sauce over the surface, leaving a ½ inch border. Arrange half of the sliced brie evenly over the sauce.
- Drizzle half of the honey over the brie and cranberry layers. Sprinkle half of the minced rosemary and half of the sugar evenly over the filling.
- Unfold the second sheet of pastry and lay it on top, aligning the edges. Press down along the edges to seal and roll gently with a pin.
- Cut the pastry sandwich into strips ¾ to 1 inch wide. Twist each strip gently to create a spiral.
- Place the twisted strips on the prepared sheets with space between them. Brush the tops with the egg wash.
- Bake for 18-25 minutes until puffed and golden. Rotate the sheets halfway through. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh rosemary or powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
These twists can be frozen raw and baked from frozen. Ensure the puff pastry stays cold before baking for the best results.
