A comforting one-pot creamy pesto sauce pasta that’s flavorful and easy to make.

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 red onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 300g dry penne pasta
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 6 tablespoons pesto sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace and gather all ingredients.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot and sauté diced red onion and bell pepper for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Add flour to vegetables and cook for 1 minute, stirring well.
- Pour in broth and bring to a simmer; add penne pasta.
- Cook pasta uncovered, stirring frequently until al dente.
- Reduce heat and mix in heavy cream until warmed through.
- Stir in pesto sauce until fully incorporated.
- Add seasonings and Parmesan, mixing until melted.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.
- Serve in bowls, garnished with parsley and extra Parmesan.
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
