- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and sauté until golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until translucent, then add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring well to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Gently fold the cooked penne pasta into the sauce, ensuring it is well coated.
- Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese and continue to cook until melted and creamy.
- Remove from heat and serve, garnished with chopped parsley.

For best results, use high-quality smoked sausage and don’t rush the simmering stage to allow the flavors to develop.
