Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Decorative icing or sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove.
- Mix in the sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares. Decorate with icing or sprinkles as desired.
Notes
For a festive twist, add peppermint extract or crushed candy canes. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
