- 2 pie crusts
- 6 cups sliced apples (mix of sweet and tart)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice; let sit for about 10 minutes.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
- Pour the apple filling into the crust and dot with small pieces of butter.
- Roll out the second crust and place it over the apples; trim edges and pinch to seal.
- Vent the top crust by making slits to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and apples are bubbling.
- Let the pie cool before serving.
