Description

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove beignets and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or hot chocolate. Can add fruit or jam for a twist. Store in an airtight container for 1-2 days at room temperature or freeze for up to a month.
