Description

Savory slices of roast beef tucked between sweet rolls, complemented by caramelized onions and melted provolone cheese, dipped in a rich au jus.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 sweet rolls (King’s Hawaiian or similar)
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups water
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Slice the sweet rolls horizontally and place the bottom halves in the baking dish.
  3. Melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a skillet and caramelize the onions with thyme, salt, and pepper for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter for the topping.
  5. Assemble the sliders with provolone cheese, roast beef, caramelized onions, and remaining cheese on the bottom rolls.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter and cover with foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the au jus by boiling the gravy mix, onion soup mix, and water; let it simmer until thickened.
  9. Slice the sliders, serve with au jus, and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

These sliders can be made in advance and stored in the fridge before baking. Pair with dipping sauces for a fun twist.
