Description
Crunchy, colorful cereal coating golden slices of French toast, bringing nostalgia to the breakfast table in a fun way.
Ingredients
Scale
- Thick slices of bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3–4 cups Fruity PEBBLES cereal
- Butter (for frying)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Prep the custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until combined and slightly frothy.
- Prepare the cereal coating: Crush the Fruity PEBBLES in a shallow bowl until you have a mix of fine crumbs and crunchy bits.
- Dip the bread: Press each slice of bread into the custard for about 5–8 seconds per side.
- Coat with cereal: Immediately press the custard-coated bread into the crushed Fruity PEBBLES, covering both sides completely.
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Let it foam.
- Cook: Cook the coated slices for 2–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Finish and serve: Keep the French toast warm in a low oven while finishing the remaining slices. Serve hot with maple syrup and extra Fruity PEBBLES.
Notes
Use slightly stale and sturdy bread to absorb custard without falling apart. Medium heat is essential to achieve a crispy exterior without burning.
