Description

Delicious and nutritious pear crumble bars made with wholesome ingredients, perfect for a guilt-free dessert or snack.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup coconut oil or butter, melted
  • 1 1/3 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 3 large ripe Bosc pears, sliced
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1 1/3 cups gluten-free flour, 1 cup oats, ¼ cup maple syrup, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  3. Add ½ cup melted coconut oil or butter to the dry mix and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press about two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the lined baking pan.
  5. Peel, core, and dice the pears into ½-inch pieces and toss them in a bowl.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons maple syrup, ¼ cup water, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and optional nutmeg to the pears and stir.
  7. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon gluten-free flour over the pears and mix again.
  8. Spoon the pear mixture evenly over the crumb base.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the pears.
  10. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool in the pan, then lift out using parchment paper and slice into bars.
  12. For an optional glaze, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons water or lemon juice and drizzle over cooled bars.
  13. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for longer freshness.

Notes

These bars can be enjoyed warm or chilled and can be served with whipped cream or yogurt.
