Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown butter icing, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, until well combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the loaf cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Drizzle with brown butter icing before serving.
