- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp milk
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two disks, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Prepare nut filling by mixing chopped nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, and milk in a bowl.
- Roll one disk of dough into a rectangle and spread half the nut filling over it.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into rounds.
- Place cookies cut-side up on a baking sheet and repeat with the second disk.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Allow cookies to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For storage, keep in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for 2 weeks. Freezing is an option for up to 3 months.
