Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add beaten eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually sift in flour and sprinkle salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Chill dough wrapped in plastic wrap for at least one hour.
  6. Combine chopped nuts, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, melted butter, and milk in a bowl for the filling.
  7. Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  8. Spread half of the nut filling over the dough, leaving a small border for sealing.
  9. Roll the dough tightly from one long side to form a log.
  10. Slice the log into ¾-inch thick cookies and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  11. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until edges are golden.
  12. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
