- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp milk
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add beaten eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually sift in flour and sprinkle salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Chill dough wrapped in plastic wrap for at least one hour.
- Combine chopped nuts, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, melted butter, and milk in a bowl for the filling.
- Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread half of the nut filling over the dough, leaving a small border for sealing.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to form a log.
- Slice the log into ¾-inch thick cookies and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Chill the dough for best results and experiment with different nuts or fillings as per your taste.
