- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 sweet onion, chopped
- 1 orange bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 (14 ounce) can fire roasted diced tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 small head green cabbage, cored and chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or jack cheese
Instructions
- Gather and prep your vegetables.
- Measure your spices.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat.
- Sauté chopped onion and bell pepper with the ground beef.
- Build the flavor base by adding fire roasted diced tomatoes.
- Season and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Cook the cabbage in a separate skillet until tender.
- Layer half of the cabbage in a casserole dish followed by half of the meat sauce.
- Repeat layers and top with cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest before serving.
Notes
