- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a 9×13 pan with parchment.
- Beat the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, buttermilk, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry mix to the wet ingredients and stir until just smooth.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 22-28 minutes or until the top is golden.
- In a separate bowl, combine the powdered sugar, maple syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream. Stir until you achieve a glossy glaze.
- Spread the glaze over the warm bars. Let them cool until the glaze sets, then slice into squares and serve.
Notes
Make sure to preheat the oven and avoid overmixing the batter for the best texture.
