Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons additional melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons additional maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Boil sweet potatoes in water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain and mash the sweet potatoes until smooth.
  4. Stir in melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Spread the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish.
  6. In a bowl, mix chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon for the topping.
  7. Sprinkle the pecan topping over the sweet potato mixture.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  9. Serve warm, drizzled with additional maple syrup if desired.
