Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Mix cocoa powder with hot water to create a chocolate paste.
  7. Stir chocolate paste into 1 cup of the vanilla batter.
  8. Layer the batters in the prepared bundt pan and swirl with a knife.
  9. Bake for 55-65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out to cool completely.
  11. For ganache, heat heavy cream and pour over chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
  12. Drizzle the ganache over the cooled cake and let set before serving.

Notes

Store leftover cake at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
