- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup whole milk
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a bundt pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Mix cocoa powder with hot water to create a chocolate paste.
- Stir chocolate paste into 1 cup of the vanilla batter.
- Layer the batters in the prepared bundt pan and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out to cool completely.
- For ganache, heat heavy cream and pour over chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the ganache over the cooled cake and let set before serving.
Notes
Store leftover cake at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
