Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  5. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the butter mixture.
  6. Stir in the oats, chopped apples, and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
