Description

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 3 ½ to 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Edible gold glitter
  • Gold candy stars

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  8. For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, gradually adding sifted powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until fluffy.
  9. Divide frosting into three bowls, tint one red, another green, and leave the third white. Use a piping bag to swirl the frosting on the cupcakes.
  10. Decorate with edible gold glitter and gold candy stars.
