- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 3 ½ to 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Red gel food coloring
- Green gel food coloring
- Edible gold glitter
- Gold candy stars
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture until just combined.
- Divide the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, gradually adding sifted powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Divide frosting into three bowls, tint one red, another green, and leave the third white. Use a piping bag to swirl the frosting on the cupcakes.
- Decorate with edible gold glitter and gold candy stars.
Notes
Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for 5 days.
