1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs

1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules (optional, for extra flavor in frosting)

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat and let cool slightly.
Add 2 cups of granulated sugar to the melted butter and mix until smooth.
Incorporate 4 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently.
Fold in 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips if using.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
Let cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
To make the frosting, beat 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter until creamy, then add 2 cups powdered sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder slowly.
Mix in 2 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and optionally 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules.
Beat until fluffy, adjusting with more milk if necessary.
Once brownies are cool, frost them and cut into squares or rectangles.
