Description
A simple and nostalgic dessert featuring warm peaches under a golden, buttery cake-like crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Pour into a greased baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Carefully pour the batter over the peach layer. Do not stir.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10–15 minutes before serving with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For a richer flavor, try brown butter in the batter. Use ripe peaches for the best texture.
