  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup or cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar (if using cocoa powder, swee ten to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings or marshmallows for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir gently to avoid scorching.
  2. If using cocoa powder, mix it with sugar first to form a paste before adding to the mixture. If using chocolate syrup, add it directly along with vanilla and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat until warm but do not boil.
  4. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or marshmallows. Serve immediately.
