Description

A decadent chocolate cake swirled with creamy peanut butter and loaded with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (about 68 cups)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 cup of whipped topping (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix on medium speed until well combined, about 2 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  4. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups into the chocolate cake batter.
  5. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.
  6. Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate cake batter to create a swirl effect.
  8. Pour the remaining chocolate cake batter over the top, covering the peanut butter layer completely.
  9. If using, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the batter.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes.
  12. Gently loosen the edges from the pan and cut the cake into squares.
  13. Serve each piece with a dollop of whipped topping, if desired.
  14. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
  15. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for extended freshness.
  16. For longer storage, freeze individual pieces wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 3 months.

Notes

This cake can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days at room temperature or refrigerated for up to a week. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
