Ingredients

  • 1 cup ( 2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and well combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Once chilled, scoop out dough onto the baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but centers are slightly underbaked.
  10. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
