Ingredients

  • 1 cup ( 2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (approximately 3 medium apples)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, stirring until smooth.
  3. Gradually add flour to the butter mixture and stir until crumbly.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the lined pan to form the crust.
  5. Toss sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
  6. Spread the apple mixture over the crust evenly.
  7. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples.
  8. Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  10. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
