Ingredients

  • 1 cup ( 2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 3 medium)
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
  3. Add the flour to the butter mixture, stirring until it forms a crumbly texture.
  4. Press about two-thirds of this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to create the crust.
  5. Toss the sliced apples with the ground cinnamon and nutmeg, then spread this apple mixture over the crust in the pan.
  6. Drizzle the salted caramel sauce generously over the apples.
  7. Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top to create a streusel-like topping.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  9. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
