Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Place over medium heat and stir gently until the sugar dissolves, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and sea salt. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (typically 20-25 minutes) until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. During the final minutes of churning, drizzle in the caramel sauce and fold in nuts if using.
  6. Transfer to an airtight container, drizzle extra caramel sauce on top, and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
  7. Before serving, let ice cream sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften.
